We've decided on MD Anderson Cancer Center: Monday, January 27, 2003

Hi! We received the results of Jason’s bone marrow biopsy (this was done on Friday) and they were very encouraging. He is not in complete remission, but the chemotherapy certainly took care of most of the leukemia that was in his system. He will most likely remain in the hospital until this Friday, and then have a couple of days at home before going to Houston, TX for a preliminary exam with doctors.

We have made the decision to have his transplant done there at the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. It is one of the best cancer facilities in the world, and we've gotten really good feedback when talking with their staff. Our schedule for the next few weeks is, so far, VERY tentative. We leave on February 3rd, and are scheduled to return on the 10th. We could be coming back earlier or later than this - it just depends on where the exams and discussions take us.

We are planning on having an "open house" of sorts on Sunday afternoon. From noon to 5pm, if you'd like to come over to our house and visit for a while - we'd love to see you. Our address is: 8306 Roosevelt Boulevard, Pittsburgh, PA 15237. Just let me know if you want directions. This get-together is also tentative, based on Jason’s health and strength at the time, so you may want to check your email or call me before coming over.

Jason wanted me to thank everyone for your cards again while he was in the hospital. They certainly cheer up the drab rooms! And once we get situated down there, please don’t stop them!! We’ll let you know our address as soon as possible.

And I wanted to thank everyone who – again – helped us so much during the last 3 weeks. From shoveling our driveway and sidewalk, to taking down our X-mas decorations and making us non-hospital food to eat, to helping with the cat, bringing in games and DVDs to occupy our time and replacing all of the burnt out light bulbs in our house (eleven!)….. We wouldn’t have been able to get the everyday things done without help from our friends and family. We truly appreciate it all.
