Whoa - He's being discharged!: Monday, May 19, 2003
I guess our "day pass" lobby was REALLY successful. The docs have decided to discharge Jason tomorrow instead of just letting him leave for a few hours. He doesn't have any infections or fevers and his appetite has been good, so they feel he would do just as well at home.
They will have to wean him off of his IV medications, so if they can't get that done by tomorrow - he'll definitely leave Wednesday. And he'll still get the opportunity to leave the hospital tomorrow afternoon. Today, we're looking forward to having him leave the floor (for the 1st time in 40+ days) for a jaunt through the lobby. Maybe the volunteer piano players will be back...
He will still have to go to the out-patient clinic everyday to receive his blood and platelet transfusions, but we're so excited about having him back for a while. Hopefully this will give him the mental boost to get through the awful wait on the donor's status.
