Hello everyone! I know quite a number of you have been anxious for news on Jason. We’ve been cautiously waiting for definite information from his doctor before saying too much...but we got great news today. He is officially engrafting (his cells are mingling with the donor’s cells and reproducing on their own) without a sign of GVHD (graft-versus-host disease.) This is really great news. And so far his doctors look at him as the poster child for bone marrow transplantation. Aside from a couple of periods with low-grade fevers – associated with, and normal for, early engraftment – he has really had no negative side effects. His appetite is coming back, and he’s been able to walk around quite a bit. His biggest motivation, so far, though, came when his doctor said this morning that he could expect to leave the hospital by Friday. This, of course, is barring any complications before then. We don’t want to jinx it by assuming too much! We know how quickly things can change! Well, thanks for all of the cards, phone calls and gifts while he’s been in the hospital. All of the nurses and staff comment on how great it is coming into such a cheery room! We had some visitors last weekend, and my brother, Bill, playing with his new digital camera took some pictures of the room, Houston and from the plane – don’t ask! :-) So if you are interested in taking a look, click on the link below. Thanks again for everything, and we’ll be sure to give you more info once we know!
