Read the Jason Updates Read the messages that Jason and Melissa wrote during Jason's illness.
4th of July: Saturday, July 05, 2003
Hi everyone. Jason's relatives are coming in today - and will stay until Tuesday. Hopefully the weather will cooperate! Things were stormy and rainy here for most of yesterday. It cleared up enough for some great fireworks - which we were able to see on the local tv station.
Jason had a pretty decent day - in spite of the weather. He was able to eat a bit of dinner and kept most of his liquids down. Today he's back to having an upset stomach, but we've been greatly encouraged that his appetite has improved so much. And now for the really good news - his counts. Today his WBC is at 6.7, RBC 3.2, Hemoglobin 9.7 and Potassium at 3.7! These are some of the highest they have been since - well - probably last July. His counts are actually beginning to maintain themselves. We can only hope his ability to eat returns soon. Its hard to see him so hungry, and unable to keep anything down. We know how quickly things can change, so we're still taking this one day at a time. But it's helpful to see him getting better, a little bit every day.
We should have another update next Tuesday (the 15th), when we meet with his doctor and find out about this Friday's bone marrow biopsy. -Mel
