As I was driving back late Monday night to Maryland from the memorial service for Jason, I thought about what I'd heard and seen earlier in the evening.
I was struck by the great grace and dignity with which Jason's parents, sister, and wife conducted themselves throughout what was a very difficult evening. Though I only had the good fortune to meet Jason once or twice before, it is now clear to me that he was a gentleman of great dignity and strength. I am very proud to say that he is a member of my family, and his example will live on in all of our hearts forever.
For his grandmother (my Aunt Rose), his parents, sister, and his dear wife, we offer our prayers and one simple message. The example that Jason provides to us is a direct reflection of the man that all of you helped him to be. Not only was he God's gift to you, but you were God's gift to Jason. Take comfort in that thought until the day comes that you are reunited with him.
All of our love to you and to Jason!
