How could something like this happen to such a nice guy? I wish I had a dollar for everytime someone asked me that over the last year. I can't explain why this happened to Jason, but I can tell you why he was such a nice guy that was loved by eveyone that met him. There's an old saying that "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree." Well, anyone who has met Jason has, by extension, met his parents Peggy & Lex. They are among the finest people that you will ever meet. It is no coincidence that Jason, and his sister Laura, turned out they way they did. What they attempted and accomplished over this past year is truly astounding, and I admire them for it. Unless you were personally involved, you can't begin to imagine what they went through. I am also appreciative of how they practically adopted Melissa into their family. I, too, am proud to be a part of their family, if only through marriage. Melissa often said that she sometime felt like one of Peg & Lex's kids instead of their daughter-in-law. I considered it an honor that she was so readily accepted into such a fine family. So, Peg & Lex, instead of you thanking everyone for all that was said and done this past year, let me thank you for showing us what parenthood is all about. But mostly, thank you for just being you.
